Ms. Asha runs a tiffin Shop which she started with a very small investment. Asha is a single mother (as her husband left her long back) and took up the responsibility of raising her son and daughter. Asha’s father passed away when she was very young. She was supported well by her mother both in personal life and business. When she planned to expand her small business, Sornammal Educational Trust (SET) came forward and offered her a loan. SET further supported her by providing a loan of INR 50,000 through Sister Hood Foundation. This helped Asha grow her tiffin shop business steadily. Before approaching SET, Asha raised loan from local money lenders at 120 % interest, which put a lot of burden on the business and self. Support from SET helped her stabilize the business and plan for expansion. Asha also joined a group and Varam provided a loan after she closed her previous loans with SET. Today Asha’s tiffin center is a well know food joint in the area she operates in and offers delicious food items viz., idly, dosai, poori, pongal, mutton, fish etc.,
